Error: An outgoing call cannot be made…input-synchronous call, when opening a client workstation
When opening your client workstation, as it attempts to connect to the server, you see the following error:
An outgoing call cannot be made since the application is dispatching an input-synchronous call. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8001010D RPC_E_CANTCALLOUT_ININPUTSYNCCALL)
Why this is happening
This may be caused by recent updates installed by your computer.
How to fix it
Intuit recommends the following 3 solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all 3.
Solution 1: Follow the troubleshooting steps in the article, Point of Sale: This application has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Solution 2: Configure firewall ports to allow for Point of Sale files and paths.
Solution 3: Set Point of Sale services to interact with the desktop:
- From your server workstation, click the Windows Start button. In the Start Search field, type services.msc and then press Enter.
- Double-click Intuit Entitlement Service XX (where XX is the highest number version you see).
- Click the Log On tab.
- Below Log on as: Local System account, select Allow services to interact with desktop, and then click OK.
- Double-click QBPOS Database Manager XX and then repeat steps 3 and 4.
