When attempting to settle credit card transactions in QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013, the following error is returned:
POS Error 180038 and/or 180037: Cannot settle credit card transactions. Receipts in progress or orphan receipts (improper shutdown) were found.
The batch of credit cards may need to be forced closed or there is damage to the company data file.
- Make sure none of your workstations are creating a receipt and then close Point of Sale on the Server Workstation. Important: Do not reboot in the meantime.
- Open Point of Sale. Error 180037 will display as expected.
- Update the program to the most current release.
- You may need to contact IMS Customer Service at 800-558-9558, to get assistance with having the batch force closed, and the POS debugged to reset the batch number.
