error 1330. A file that is reqiured cannot be installed because the cabinet file X:data1.cab has an invalid digital sig. this may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt. error 24592 was returned by WinVerifyTrust.

This is an error that can happen when you are trying to install an older version of QuickBooks Point of Sale.

So what is happening?

There is a digital signature assigned to the cab files in the background. That signature is dated, and this date is compared to the system date.

So, what do we do?

First, reset the system date back to about 2006. You can usually double click the clock in the lower right of the screen, and reset the year.

When you run the install, it should proceed normally.

Once the software is installed, set the year back to the current year on the system.

By resetting the year, it places the Digital Signature of that Cab file into a time when it was current.
