What am I getting this error?

  • The Point of Sale Entitlement folder contains compromised files.
  • An incorrect product code has been used to install QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
  • You are not logged in to Windows as an admin.

Solution 1. Delete the contents of the Entitlement Client folder

Option 1 (Automatic)

  1. Download the Clear Entitlement File tool.
  2. Unzip the file to your desktop.
  3. Double-click to run the file.
  4. Re-launch QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and complete the registration.

Note: You can delete the Clear entitlement v8.bat file as well as the Clear_entitlement_v8.zip files.

Option 2 (Manual)

Note: You’ll be asked to delete the contents of the Entitlement Client folder which is found inside the Program Data folder. The Program Data folder is usually hidden. To unhide, follow Display hidden files and folders in Windows.
  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key ⊞ + E, to open Windows Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  3. Press Ctrl + on your keyboard to select all the files in the folder, then press Delete.
  4. Select Yes to confirm the action.
  5. Re-launch QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and complete the registration.

If the issue isn’t resolved, call 800-316-1068 to verify the correct validation code is being used.

Solution 2. Rename the WSActivity file

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key ⊞ + E, to open Windows Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale XX\Ini.
  3. Right-click WSActivity and select Rename.
  4. Enter “OLDWSActivity” and click anywhere to save.
  5. Close the window, then follow Solution 1 to delete the contents of the entitlement client folder again.
  6. Relaunch QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.

Solution 3. Clean reinstall QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale

If the solutions above didn’t work, perform clean reinstall.
