Obtain a voice authorization
Description
If a credit card transaction cannot be authorized electronically (for example, if the software or equipment isn’t working), merchants can authorize the transaction by phone. There are transaction fees for voice authorizations. Getting a voice authorization is not the same as processing the transaction. A voice authorization simply ensures that the cardholder has the available funds. You still need to process the transaction to receive the funds. The first step is to authorize the transaction, which secures the funds for use. You may then process the transaction in QuickBooks or the Merchant Service Center.
